What are Members and Officers?
The Parish Council consists of two groups of people, they are:
- The Councillors, otherwise known as the Members.
- The Staff, otherwise known as the Officers.
Members:
The Members are usually elected to the parish council at election time. However, occasionally resignations are received during the four-year term of office, and these vacancies can be filled by a by-election if the electorate require it, or by co-option.
These positions have no remuneration, however reimbursement for expenses incurred during duties is given.
The Parish Council meets each month except for August and December, and Members are required to attend at least one meeting during any consecutive six-month period.
Members are also expected to sit on at least one of the committees.
Officers:
The parish council employ two Officers. These are the Clerk who also undertakes the role of Responsible Finance Officer, and the Litter Picker.
Both positions are part-time.
